Interview with Cassie Fox from Loud Women and I, Doris

Cassie Fox runs the organisation 'Loud Women' who put on loads of shows and release music!!  During lockdown she has organised online live stream events and has also released some of her own music with her band, I Doris!!  A true Wonder Woman!!

"It's a challenging time for everyone right now, but I feel really lucky to have so much awesome music and brilliant people around me"

Who are you and what do you do?

Cassie Fox - the founder of the LOUD WOMEN organisation (festival, events, blog, and online community of womxn musicians). I'm also a Doris - in the band I, Doris! And I'm also a mum of two lovely boys, and I have a sensible day job.

Who or what inspires you?

Punkrock!

What challenges do you face?

The biggest challenge at the moment is how to keep supporting the community of LOUD WOMEN while in lockdown. I've had to postpone our 5th Festival from September this year to March 2021, and in the meantime all of our regular events are on hold. I'm running some online gigs on social media, and our team is keeping the blog going with reviews and interviews. It's a challenging time for everyone right now, but I feel really lucky to have so much awesome music and brilliant people around me (even if we are socially distanced!).

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

2019 was an awesome year for LOUD WOMEN, kicked off with the launch of our New York chapter. My band fly over to play the gig (and a great excuse for a girls' weekend in Brooklyn) and we had such a great time! It seems amazing to have started from one gig in a pub in 2015, and LW has spread like noisy wildfire around the world.

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

Since then, more LW chapters have popped up in LA, Australia, Canada and Ireland. Once we're all able to safely travel again, it's my dream to visit all the other chapters – and start new ones in other countries too!
