Marina is Red Zine #002 Released!!

Hey everyone!! Hope you’re all doing ok and surviving through lockdown!  It has finally given me some time to produce my second ‘zine and I’m really excited about all the things I have to share with you!  Just have a look at the front cover, for starters!!

So what’s new?  For this ‘zine I won’t be getting it printed out, at least not for a while!  I’m including printing instructions on how to make it an A5 booklet or you can just enjoy it on your pdf viewer.  With that in mind, I’ve made everything but the front cover black and white so that it doesn’t eat all your expensive coloured ink!  You’re welcome!!

I’ve also gone a bit mad and have almost doubled the number of pages since the last zine, now at 40 pages and there’s loads of stuff on here that hasn’t been published anywhere else and this will remain the only place you can read it, for example, the interviews with Big Joanie and Deux Furieuses and also the article on the effects of gentrification on the Birmingham music scene.

I'm so excited to be able to feature so many amazing musicians, artists, labels, producers and gigs.  Like I said, we've got interviews from Big Joanie and Deux Furieuses, but also Gig Reviews of Sleater-Kinney and Bikini Kill.  I've spent quite a bit of time in Birmingham this year at Supersonic Festival and at Die Das Der's Yr Welcome 5th Birthday Party and have included a big section on Birmingham's Music (and Art) scene.  I look at other zines Vinyl Dyke and I Wanna Be Yr Girl and review some books and records.  There's also info on new releases to be found on bandcamp and some news from my Spanish friends in the sun!

Also, with it being print at home or viewable on a pdf reader, I've made it a bit cheaper.  Just £1.75 and if you order both #001 and #002, you can have them for £2.25!  Less than a coffee at Costas!  So please, please, please support me by buying it.  I don't get any money for doing this from anywhere else - I do it because I want to give all of the amazing musicians, artists, labels, etc some exposure!  Hope you enjoy it.  Let me know what you think.

I’ll be doing a Launch Party Live Steam over on Facebooktonight, so drop by at 6 and see me chat about the ‘zine and maybe sing a song or two!  (I’ve never done a live stream before so it could be interesting!! )
