The Origins of the Riot Grrrl Ethos

Interview with DJ Lady Sazo

Who are you and what do you do?

I'm Sarah, aka DJ Lady Sazo. I work as a resident venue DJ and also as a mobile DJ, performing at weddings and corporate events etc.

Who or what inspires you?

Other female DJ's like Sam Divine and Ana Matronic are great. I also really enjoy working with different styles and genres of music from RnB to Disco to House and reworks of old classic tunes. I love seeing my dancefloor packed and bouncing!

What challenges do you face?

The physical part of the mobile shows - loading in, setting up and loading out - can be a real challenge sometimes.

It's the less than glamorous part of the job that no-one sees!

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Performing with Club MTV for hundreds of students was amazing. I also love the wide variety of venues, from bars to stately homes.

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

To get back to playing as much as possible when we get out of lockdown.
